The Conferment of Fellowships and Induction of Members of the Academy of Medicine of Malaysia (AMM) was held on 22 August 2025 at the Grand Ballroom, Shangri-La Hotel, Kuala Lumpur, in conjunction with the Opening Ceremony of the Tripartite Congress of Medicine 2025. The ceremony was part of a major regional gathering that included the 58th Malaysia–Singapore Congress of Medicine, the 5th AMM–AMS–HKAM Tripartite Congress of Medicine, and the 7th Emergency Medicine Annual Symposium (EMAS).

The event opened with an academic procession, followed by an address by Professor Dr Rosmawati Mohammed, Master of the Academy of Medicine of Malaysia. Further speeches were delivered by Professor Dr Philip Kam-Tao Li, President of the Hong Kong Academy of Medicine, and Dr Wong Chiang Yin, Master of the Academy of Medicine, Singapore. The Congress was then officially declared open by Duli Yang Maha Mulia Paduka Seri Sultan Perak Darul Ridzuan, Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah Ibni Almarhum Sultan Azlan Muhibbuddin Shah, Royal Patron of the Academy of Medicine of Malaysia, whose presence lent great honour to the occasion.

The conferment recognised Presidents of overseas Academies, Colleges, and professional organisations, as well as distinguished academicians. This was followed by the induction of new Members of the Academy, bringing the total number of Fellows and Members conferred that evening to more than 400. The College of Radiology was proud to celebrate the induction of 18 new Members and the conferment of 8 new Fellows, reflecting the growing strength of the radiology fraternity and its ongoing contributions to medical imaging, interventional practice, and patient-centred care in Malaysia.

The ceremony also featured the 25th Tun Dr Ismail Oration. Tan Sri Datuk Dr Ridzwan Bakar delivered the citation, after which YABhg Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, Malaysia’s fourth and seventh Prime Minister, presented the oration entitled “Healing a Nation with Prescriptions”. Drawing from his experience as both physician and statesman, Tun Dr Mahathir highlighted the values and leadership qualities essential to building a healthy, resilient nation, offering insights that resonated deeply with the medical fraternity.

The evening concluded with a reception where Fellows, Members, and guests gathered to celebrate the achievements of the inductees. The Conferment of Fellowships and Induction of Members, in conjunction with the Opening Ceremony of the Tripartite Congress of Medicine 2025, was a proud milestone for the medical fraternity. The College of Radiology extends its warmest congratulations to all new Fellows and Members and looks forward to their continued contributions to radiology and healthcare in Malaysia and the wider region.
