ASIASAFE
AsiaSafe www.AsiaSafe.org is an initiative by the AOSR to establish radiation safety culture and to ensure the appropriate use of radiation in medicine in Asia Oceania countries. The main objective of the initiative is to raise awareness among health professionals and to change their practice by providing recommendations and guidance on all aspects of protection from ionising radiation.
AsiaSafe was mooted by the AOSR council in 2018.
It is a member of the International Society of Radiology Quality and Safety Alliance (ISRQSA) which is the alliance created by the International Society of Radiology (ISR) to unite radiation safety campaigns.
AsiaSafe’s planned activities will focus on enhancing compliance with safety standards, policies, procedures and activities that support the implementation of justification and optimisation principles in medical imaging and therapy. We firmly respond to the actions of the Bonn Call for Action promoted by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and the World Health Organization (WHO).
AsiaSafe intends to cooperate with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), World Health Organization (WHO), European Society of Radiology, EuroSafe Imaging, International Society of Radiology (ISR), Radiological Society of North America (RSNA), ArabSafe and AFROSAFE.
